World Hearing Day 2019

World Hearing Day 2019

To celebrate World Hearing Day today on March 3rd 2019, we launched our brand new mobile outreach trailer with University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka as part of our three year project advancing children’s hearing health services for children in Zambia. The new trailer, with two built in sound-proof booths, will enable the audiology team to provide mobile ear and hearing clinic services to remote and rural areas in Lusaka, to  benefit people who are unable to access the services at UTH.

This year’s World Health Organisation theme is ‘Check your hearing’, so to launch the new outreach services at UTH, the audiology team were providing free hearing screening in the new trailer in Lusaka today, screening over 300 people for hearing loss. Our audiology team at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Malawi were also reinforcing this year’s theme by providing free hearing screening outside QECH  and at Ndirande Kachere Church today, to help raise awareness of their audiology services available in Blantyre and screened 145 people for hearing loss.

Please help make a difference and donate today to help more people with hearing loss in Africa to access hearing healthcare and education.
