Pune

Sound Seekers’ Maharashtra Ear-Care project is based at the King Edward Memorial Hospital in the city of Pune in Maharashtra, West Central India. The Hospital is a government facility that struggles to provide adequate healthcare to the poor and neglected residents of the poverty-stricken neighbourhoods and slums that surround the city.  The HARK! mobile clinic was delivered to the Hospital in March 2008, and will screen and treat children in urban slums, informal settlements and rural areas of south-western Maharashtra, where access to healthcare is otherwise extremely limited. The first outreach visit with the new team took place on the 17th June 2008.
